Weekend in Shep
6 dollar pizza for dinner on Sat night
5 loads of laundry
4 disastrous attempts at studying
3 free-to-air movies of varying quality
2 lengthy languorous late-afternoon reposes
1 big splotch of bird-shit on my newly laundered sheets

I've really quite enjoyed myself this weekend. It was pretty relaxing eventhough we were meant to be "on-call". All on-call involved was spending Friday night in the Emergency Department seeing snotty and pooey kiddies, and Saturday ward rounds (1 kid, 10 neonates). Fun fun!

It's been 32 years...

Well, yesterday was the first wedding anniversary my parents have remembered in 5 years (yes, these romantic people forgot their 30th wedding anniversary). And I suspect the only reason that they remembered this time was that mum told Shennie a few months before and she's been not-so-subtly reminding them.

And when I called them to wish them a happy 32nd anniversary, mum had just got back from pasar malam after buying components of their "anniversary dinner" and dad apparently had a head scarf on and was attempting to de-tick the dogs. Sigh. The makings of a fairytale.

Still, good old dad hasn't quite lost it yet. He did buy a little box of orchids for mum. I don't think mum's ever had a romantic bone in her body.

But, if either of you ever do read this, thanks.
Thanks for showing us what a stable, loving marriage is, and for extending your hospitality by opening our home up to a wide and warm variety of friends and family.
I think your "all-inclusive" relationship approach is way better than some more romantic and exclusive couplings (and hence families).
Whatever works for 32 years, is a good enough template for me! :)
